Ever wanted to bring your garden indoors? Here?s your chance to try it! Learn how to create prints from actual leaves and plants. "Grow"" them on your cloth in splendid colour. Print pillow cases, napkins, scarves, clothing, you name it. Learn to see patterns in everyday objects and turn them into exquisite fabrics. While painting, brushing, sponging and using Gunnel's unique techniques of 'taking away' and 'scraping', you will explore visual texture and produce fabulous cloth created in your own colour scheme.

Interested in home decorating, quilting or fashion? Do you want a specific colour combination and imagery on your fabric? This system of printing is for you. Learn how to create simple motifs as well as prints with fine and detailed imagery, which can be repeated over and over to create your own unique yardage.
This intensive screen printing workshop will take you from the basics to photo emulsion in two inspiring days. You will explore a variety of techniques for creating artwork on acetate, which you will then use to make a permanent photo emulsion screen. Wash and reuse your screen, and create prints in countless colour combinations.

Sat. Nov. 22: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What could be more fun than a trip to a new fabric store? Making your very own fabric! In this workshop you will learn how to mix a full array of colours enabling you to use any imaginable colour combinations to create brilliant and exciting textures. Imagine fabrics that look like an abstract flower garden or subtle sky, landscapes or seascapes. Spraying produces soft imagery with depth and interest. Learn the intriguing aspects of pigment dyeing. No messy chemicals, no odours, no need to leave the fabric in the "dye bath". What you see is what you get... and it's great!

Sun. Nov. 30: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On the first day of this workshop you will build a surface structure for fabric from scratch. Using tools, processes and colour combinations, the 'ground cloth' will be prepared. On the second day you will be pleating and dyeing the fabric, then over-dyeing, stamping, painting, spraying and embellishing with gold and metallic foil until you have produced exciting fabrics with depth and interest. The layering of techniques will give you a solid beginning to create complex cloth.

Gold and Silver - the pigments shine and glitter. Learn how to use gold and silver metallic pigments and to tint them to create truly luxurious fabrics.
Metallic foil has a smooth glimmering rich quality, which produces stunning effects on fabric. Add eye-catching visual depth and contrast by embellishing your fabrics with metallic foil using easy fool-proof techniques.
- Bring a selection of cotton, linen, silk or fabric blends in any colour to jazz up with metallics. Dark fabrics look stunningly spectacular when embellished with metallics and foil.
- No previous experience necessary.

What to bring to Workshops:
- Up to 5 yards of prewashed 100% cotton fabric for printing (rayon or silk optional)
- Cotton T-shirt, placemats etc. (optional)
- Apron and Rubber Gloves
- Empty containers with lids (e.g. small yougurt containers or other inexpensive containers)
- Lunch (we have a fridge and a microwave oven)

About Owner and Instructor: Gunnel Hag
- Gunnel is an enthusiastic, innovative and creative teacher.
- Gunnel studied Textiles at Stockholm University, Sweden and at the Royal College of Art, London, England.
- For over 30 years she has been running Trees Textile Designers and Printers in Toronto, presently producing printed and dyed fabrics for film and theatre companies in Canada and the United States.
- She taught for 12 years at Sheridan College, School of Crafts and Design in Oakville, Ontario and has been a visiting lecurer at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India.
- Her clothing an Interior fabrics have been represented at International Design exhibitions.
- She has received many grants and awards for her work.
